Yoga” means to join, or to unite. It is a mental, physical, and spiritual practice that can help us connect with powerful knowledge and facilitate our own growth and healing. Through the practice of yoga, we can create space in our bodies and increase the flow of life energy (prana). There are many different styles of yoga including vinyasa, iyengar, hatha, yin and restorative yoga (and many others). We are often drawn to the type of yoga and the teacher that we need. In our culture of hustle and bustle, many find it hard to turn the "mind" off and initiate relaxation.
